New Brunswick RCMP Officer Charged with Provincial Motor Vehicle Offence

On April 11, 2025, SiRT received a referral from the RCMP “J” Division regarding a collision between an RCMP vehicle and a civilian vehicle at Steeves Mountain, New Brunswick, that occurred while RCMP officers were responding to a call. SiRT began its investigation that day. As a result of the investigation, on October 9, 2025, Constable Attilio Cazares-Caucci was charged with failing to yield, contrary to s. 166 of the New Brunswick Motor Vehicle Act.

As the matter is before the courts, and in consideration of the fair trial interests of the accused, SiRT will not provide further comment on the investigation.

SiRT is responsible for investigating all matters that involve death, serious injury, sexual assault and intimate partner violence or other matters of public interest that may have arisen from the actions of any police officer in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
