Summary
On November 29, 2025, SiRT received a referral from the Cape Breton Regional Police (CBRP) regarding an altercation involving a CBRP officer that occurred on the night of November 28, 2025. Following an investigation, I have determined there are reasonable and probable grounds to believe that Cst. Charles Maurice Bourgeois committed a criminal offence.
On March 5, 2026, Cst. Bourgeois was charged with assault contrary to Section 266 of the Criminal Code.
Cst. Bourgeois will appear before the Nova Scotia Provincial Court at, 136 Charlotte Street, Sydney, Nova Scotia, on May 1, 2026, at 9:30 a.m.
