The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) has terminated an investigation related to a male who sustained injuries on June 3, 2025 in Moncton, New Brunswick.

On the evening of June 3, 2025, members of the Codiac RCMP attended a call related to a disturbance at the Moncton Lion’s Club. After his arrest, the male complained of wrist pain and attended hospital after being released the following morning. Initial information was that he was diagnosed with a fracture to his right hand. However, SiRT conducted a preliminary investigation into the matter, including a review of medial records, and learned that the injury was not serious in nature.

On this basis, the Director found the incident no longer met the SiRT mandate. The investigation has been terminated and the file has been closed.

SiRT is responsible for investigating all matters that involve death, serious injury, sexual assault and intimate partner violence or other matters of a public interest to be investigated that may have arisen from the actions of any police officer, on or off duty, in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick. Investigations are under the direction and control of an independent civilian director, who has the sole authority to determine if charges should be laid at the conclusion of an investigation.
