SiRT Investigating Serious Injury Sustained During Arrest in Lower Sackville

The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) is investigating a serious injury sustained by an adult female during an arrest by the RCMP.

Preliminary information suggests:
• On the early evening of July 24, 2026 members of the RCMP responded to a residence in Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia as they became aware a woman was in breach of court orders.
• An adult female was located at the house and arrested for failing to comply with court orders and criminal harassment.
• During the arrest the woman sustained a serious injury to her arm. She was transported to hospital by EHS.

The matter was referred to SiRT and an investigation was started the same day.

SiRT is responsible for investigating all matters that involve death, serious injury, sexual assault and intimate partner violence or other matters of a public interest that may have arisen from the actions of any police officer, on or off duty, in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick. Investigations are under the direction and control of an independent civilian director, who has the sole authority to determine if charges should be laid at the conclusion of an investigation.
