SiRT Investigating Serious Injury in Woodstock, New Brunswick

The Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is investigating a serious injury that may have occurred during an interaction with a member of the Woodstock Police Force (WPF) in Woodstock, New Brunswick.

Preliminary information suggests:

  • On the early morning of October 10, 2025 members of the WPF attempted to pull over a vehicle for a motor vehicle offence on Main Street in Woodstock. The driver did not stop, and the officer continued to follow.
  • Shortly after the vehicle was in an accident and the two occupants fled on foot.
  • The driver of the vehicle was an adult male. He was located by police later that day, was arrested and transported to the Woodstock Police station, where he complained of pain.
  • The male was taken to Upper River Valley Hospital and then transported and emitted to Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital in Fredericton for serious injuries.

Due to there being a serious injuries sustained by the male, SiRT has assumed responsibility for this investigation.

SiRT is responsible for investigating all matters that involve death, serious injury, sexual assault and intimate partner violence or other matters of a public interest to be investigated that may have arisen from the actions of any police officer, on or off duty, in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick. Investigations are under the direction and control of an independent civilian director, who has the sole authority to determine if charges should be laid at the conclusion of an investigation.
