The Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) is investigating a matter involving a serious injury sustained by an adult male while being arrested in Moncton, New Brunswick.
Preliminary information suggests the following:

- Two adult males were seen fighting outside the establishment. One of the males proceeded to run away from the officers.
- The male who ran showed signs of alcohol intoxication and was detained for an assault. While being escorted to cells he continued to resist the officers and had to be placed on the floor to remove the handcuffs.
- The male complained of wrist pain and attended hospital after being released the following morning. He was diagnosed with a fracture to his right hand.
Due to the serious injury sustained by the male, SiRT has assumed responsibility for this investigation.
