SiRT Investigating Motor Vehicle Accident that Resulted in Death
The Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is investigating a motor vehicle accident that resulted in the death of an adult male, near Tantallon.
Preliminary information suggests:
- On the night of Saturday March 28, 2026, an adult male was walking on the side of highway 103 near Tantallon, where he was struck by a vehicle.
- RCMP responded to the 911 call.
- The driver of the vehicle was identified as an off-duty Bridgewater Police officer.
- Alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
- The male was pronounced deceased shortly after the accident.
Anyone driving on highway 103 near Exit 5 to Tantallon, between 11:00pm and midnight on March 28 with dashcam footage, photos, or other information is asked to contact SiRT directly by emailing sirt.tips@novascotia.ca .
SiRT is responsible for investigating all matters that involve death, serious injury, sexual assault and intimate partner violence or other matters of a public interest that may have arisen from the actions of any police officer, on or off duty, in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick. Investigations are under the direction and control of an independent civilian director, who has the sole authority to determine if charges should be laid at the conclusion of an investigation.
