SiRT Investigating Collision Resulting in Serious Injury
The Serious Incident Response Team is investigating a serious injury that was sustained by an adult male following a collision with an RCMP vehicle in Hartland, New Brunswick.
Preliminary information suggests:
- On the evening of May 17, 2026, an RCMP officer was responding to an urgent call.
- While driving with emergency equipment activated, the police vehicle collided with a side-by side driven by an adult male, near the intersection of Rockland Road and Clark Street in Hartland.
- The male driver of the side by side was taken to hospital where he was diagnosed with a broken wrist and other injuries.
Due to the serious injury, SiRT has assumed responsibility for this investigation.
SiRT is responsible for investigating all matters that involve death, serious injury, sexual assault and intimate partner violence or other matters of a public interest that may have arisen from the actions of any police officer, on or off duty, in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick. Investigations are under the direction and control of an independent civilian director, who has the sole authority to determine if charges should be laid at the conclusion of an investigation.
