On February 24, 2025, SiRT received a referral from the Saint John Police Force regarding an historical allegation of sexual assault that was committed by one of their members. Following an investigation, I have determined there are reasonable and probable grounds to believe that Sgt.
Thomas Clayton committed criminal offences.
On November 4, 2025, Sgt. Thomas Clayton was charged with one count of sexual assault contrary to s. 271(a) of the Criminal Code and one count of breach of trust by a public officer, contrary to s. 122 (a) of the Criminal Code.
