Summary

On May 27, 2025, Bathurst Police Force (BPF) contacted SiRT regarding an allegation that an active BPF member was harassing a former intimate partner. On June 27, 2025, another incident related to the initial referral was brought to the attention of SiRT. On June 28, 2025, a third related incident was also brought to the attention of SiRT by the RCMP and due to the nature of the allegations, SiRT requested the RCMP conduct the investigation for this incident, with SiRT providing oversight and review. As a result of SiRT’s investigation and oversight of these incidents, I have determined there are reasonable and probable grounds to believe that Cst. Nathan Pitre committed criminal offences.

On April 7, 2026, Cst. Nathan Pitre was charged with the following offences:

• criminal harassment contrary to s. 264 (1) of the Criminal Code;
• harassment by making repeated communications by way of telecommunication, contrary to s. 372(3) of the Criminal Code;
• breach of trust of a public office, contrary to s. 122(a) of the Criminal Code;
• being unlawfully in a dwelling house, contrary to s. 349(1) of the Criminal Code; and
• uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, contrary to s. 264.1(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

The offences are alleged to have occurred on different dates between November 1, 2022, and May 26, 2025.

Cst. Pitre will appear in Bathurst Provincial Court, 254 Patrick St., on June 29, 2026, at 9:30 am.
