Summary
On December 13, 2022, SiRT was contacted by the RCMP Eskasoni FN Detachment who reported an allegation of Indecent Exposure on an Affected Person (AP) by a RCMP officer, the Subject Officer (SO). The incident is alleged to have occurred in 2021. An investigation began on December 13, 2022, and concluded on February 2, 2023. Information was obtained during the investigation from the AP and various members of the RCMP. One charge of Indecent Exposure, contrary to 173(1) of the Co de, was laid against Cst. (Terrance) Justin Sanford. Cst. Sanford is scheduled to appear at the Sydney Nova Scotia Courthouse on April 28, 2023. Relevant legal issue: An Indecent Exposure is committed whenever a person intentionally does an indecent act in a public place where one or more persons are present.
