Police Shooting of Homicide Suspect

Summary
On September 18, 2017, SiRT began an investigation into gun shot wounds sustained by a 49- year-old male, the Affected Party (“AP”). These wounds were the result of gun shots fired by three RCMP officers, Subject Officers (“SOs”) during an interaction which occurred following a police pursuit. The investigation was concluded on March 12, 2018. Shortly before midnight on September 17, 2017, the Colchester District RCMP were investigating a homicide in Bayhead, NS. While doing so, members of the R CMP engaged a vehicle in the area which they suspected as being operated by a person sought in relation to the homicide investigation. The operator of that vehicle failed to stop for R CMP and led them on a pursuit which ended when the operator drove into Lockerbie Memorial Cemetery, Highway 6, Tatamagouche and took up a position at the edge of the property.
