Summary

SiRT began its investigation on the afternoon of December 28, 2019, upon receiving a call from Colchester District Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Bible Hill (CD-RCMP). CD-RCMP said they had received an allegation that, while off duty, Cpl. Gregory Deagle of Pictou District RCMP, the Subject Officer (SO), had committed a sexual assault against a female known to him. Information was received from the Affected Party and two Witness Officers (WO). Other evidence relevant to the matter was collected. SiRT’s investigation was completed on February 12, 2020, when a charge of sexual assault was laid against Cpl. Deagle. Relevant Legal Issues An assault is committed when a person intentionally applies force against another person without their consent. Asexual assault is an assault committed in circumstances of a sexual nature such that the complainant’s sexual integrity is violated.
