Summary
On February 24, 2025, the RCMP “ H” Division contacted SiRT regarding an incident they responded to th e previous day involving an off -duty officer of the Amherst Police Department. Due to the circumstances and the need for an immediate response, the RCMP took action, initiated and completed the investigation. In the public interest, SiRT provided oversight of file and reviewed the RCMP investigation. Christopher Jobe was charged by the RCMP on February 27, 2025 with nine firearms related offences under Part III of the Criminal Code , and two offences related to operating a vehicle while impaired. The information sets out reasonable and probable grounds for the RCMP to believe that the offences were committed, and as Director I agree with this assessment. In cases where charges are laid, and since the matter is currently before the courts, this report will not discuss the facts of the matter in detail. To do otherwise might compromise the fair trial interests of the accused….
