SiRT Concludes Investigation into Alleged Sexual Assault in New Brunswick
The Director of the Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) has found no reasonable grounds to lay charges against a New Brunswick RCMP Officer of an alleged sexual assault.
On November 21, 2024, SiRT received a referral from New Brunswick RCMP regarding an alleged sexual assault involving one of their officers that was said to have taken place in October 2023. SiRT started their investigation immediately.
Sexual assaults are generally under reported, and the release of detailed information or the fear of not being believed may prevent a person from reporting. Due to the sensitivities and privacy interests of this file certain details and information have been omitted from the report.

SiRT is responsible for investigating all matters that involve death, serious injury, sexual assault and intimate partner violence or other matters of a public interest to be investigated that may have arisen from the actions of any police officer in Nova Scotia or New Brunswick. Investigations are under the direction and control of an independent civilian director, who has the sole authority to determine if charges should be laid at the conclusion of an investigation.
