Summary
On December 29, 2014, at approximately 3:40p.m., SiRT received a call from the Halifax Regional Police (HRP) regarding an incident that occurred shortly after 3p.m. at an apartment building on Tower Road in Halifax. Police had responded to a 911call about a woman who may be suicidal. When they entered the apartment they found a 39year old woman, the Affected Person (AP), stabbing herself in the neck. She was taken to hospital but pronounced deceased shortly thereafter. As a result SiRT was contacted, and assumed responsibility for the investigation that afternoon with the Director and investigators attending the scene. The investigation was concluded on June 15, 2015. The completion was delayed somewhat by attempts to contact certain witnesses, and by SiRT’s current workload. The investigation saw SiRT take statements from eight civ ilian witnesses, which included AP’s brother.
